New Adventures!

Rose and Kathy have decided to begin new adventures with individual businesses.  We had a wonderful time together as Buttercup Bakers, and have now each created new websites for our unique confectionery creations!

Check out Rose's beautiful cookies at www.bellarosecookies.com and visit Kathy's page for cakes and cupcakes at www.buttercupsbykathy.com.  Facebook pages coming soon as well!

Welcome!!

We are the Buttercup Bakers, Kathy and Rose.  We thoroughly enjoy coming up with creative, custom confections (cookies, cupcakes, or cakes) for every occasion!

You can browse our creations by going to the individual pages for Cakes, Cupcakes, and Cookies.  You can also find specific designs by looking at the categories to the right.

In the Jungle

A sweet young girl wanted her toy jungle animals on her birthday cake, so that is exactly what I did.  This is a half-sheet vanilla cake with buttercream frosting.  Pirouette wafer sticks were used for the trees, with plastic leaves on top.  I tried to do the leaves from royal icing, but it didn't quite work.  Also, the cake looks a little more like the Serengeti than a jungle, but that's what imaginations are for.  Overall, the cake received great reviews from the guest of honor at the birthday party, and that is what matters most.

Fire Marshal Cookies

What does a business manager give a visiting fire marshal to show our appreciation?  Cookies, of course!  Hand-cut for the occasion, these Dallas Fire Department logo cookies and fire hydrants were such fun to make.

"Wainbows and Unitorns"

The process for this cake was quite involved!  Having the rainbow of icing colors in the fridge was fun, and I was thrilled that the unicorn turned out so well with my second attempt at the FBCT method (thanks to lessons learned from the Paul Frank monkey cupcakes!).  This was a half-sheet yellow cake, and I created the design based on a party napkin from Oriental Trading Company.  The feedback from the party was perfect: "Delicious AND cute!".  Happy 4th birthday, sweet Lily!

Strawberry Shortcake Sweetness

I was so happy while decorating this cake - Strawberry is just too cute!  A friend happened to have access to this cake pan, and it was just what her daughter wanted for her 5th birthday party.  The cake flavor was strawberry, and since that isn't the most popular flavor, and also since the cake pan isn't very large (the cake is on a 12" diameter cake board in this picture), we decided to also do chocolate cupcakes with coordinating pink and green swirls of icing.  Absolutely perfect for little girls!

Topsy Turvy Craziness

I had fun with two "firsts" while making this cake: the obvious topsy turvy craziness, and buttercream fondant (the white; the purple was normal buttercream).  For a scale reference, the bottom silver cake board is 14" diameter.  There were lots of lessons learned during this grand experiment, and lots of things I would do differently next time I attempt this, but overall I had a great time making a zany cake for an equally zany (and awesome) friend.  Happy Birthday, Heather!!!  Keep on rockin'!
